Issues and Options Consultation on the Selby District Local Plan: 24th January to 6th March 2020

Selby District Council is holding a six week consultation from 24th January to 5pm on 6th March 2020 on the Local Plan Issues and Options document.

The preparation of the new Local Plan provides the opportunity to consider what sort of place we would like Selby to be in 2040. The plan will set out a vision and framework for future growth of the district, identifying where new housing, employment and other development will be located. The Local Plan will also set out policies which the Council will use to determine planning applications and, once adopted, will replace the Selby District Core Strategy Local Plan (2013) and those policies that have been ‘saved’ from the Selby District Local Plan (2005).

The Issues and Options consultation is the first stage in the process and asks for comments on the key issues that have been identified and for views on alternative options for growth. Nothing has been decided at this early stage and therefore the consultation responses received will help to shape the contents of the emerging Local Plan.  The document can be viewed online here:

Paper copies of the documents can also be viewed at the Customer Contact Centre (Access Selby) in the Market Cross Centre in Selby, the Civic Centre on Doncaster Road in Selby and at all libraries in the District.

You, as a Parish Council, will play an essential role in this exercise by providing us with your views on the consultation document and helping us please to publicise the consultation to parishioners through your Parish newsletters or notices. To this end, you will be shortly receiving in the post a poster which we would be grateful if you could display somewhere public.

We would also like to invite you and your parishioners to a public meeting. Council Officers will provide a short presentation on the new Local Plan and will be available to answer any questions you may have.  You may attend any of the following meetings:
